Flavor: If you’ve ever had caramel apple you can certainly tell that this shisha tastes exact the same. You can actually taste both caramel and apple. Its also not too sweet at all which I wouldn’t like.

Smoke: Its a very good thick smoke. Doesn’t take a lot of effort to get good smokes.

Smoothness: Its not as smooth as Blackberry starbuzz or the BlueMist Starbuzz, but it is still pretty smooth comparing to other tobaccos on the market.

Overall: It’s a good overall flavor. I strongly recommend it to anyone that likes either apple or caramel.

The Hookah Tobacco Brand

The hookah tobacco is the most important factor in determining the amount of smoke. In my experience the Starbuzz tobacco produces the most smoke. This is not to mistake that the tobacco alone can produce great smoke. The hookah still needs to be prepared correctly.

The Hookah Itself

The way the hookah itself is shaped and made can play a key role in the amount of smoke.

Vase: A large hookah vase allows more smoke stored in it and therefore more smoke can be drawn from the hose.

Stem: At the same time you would want a not so long hookah stem. The shorter the stem the easier it is to suck the smoke down from the hookah bowl. So with the same effort you can enjoy a larger amount of smoke.

Hose:A long hose has the same effect as a long stem as it would require more energy to get the same amount of smoke. So try to find a shorter hose to allow more and easier smoke.

Also make sure there is not too much water in the base. The air space left in the base (the space not filled with water) is the space that allows the cool smoke to store which is what you smoke at every puff. So filling the base with too much water will reduce the smoke storage space and result in less amount of smoke.

Packing The Tobacco Right

It is essential to pack the tobacco correctly in the bowl. Tobacco should not be packed hard. In other words don’t push the tobacco or over pack it when preparing the bowl. A dense packing will not allow good air flow into the tobacco and therefore it will not allow all the tobacco burn evenly (or burn at all).

So sprinkle the tobacco in the bowl to leave enough room for good air flow. Once you are done packing.

The Holes On The Aluminum Foil

Both the number of holes and size of them can affect the amount of smoke coming out of a hookah.

Number of holes: Too few holes don’t allow enough oxygen to pass through the foil to allow the burning of the tobacco (and getting smoke). Also, too many holes will let too much oxygen to pass through the foil and will result in fast burning (and waste of) your tobacco.

How many holes is the right number? That depends a lot on the size of bowl that you are using. Smaller bowls would need fewer holes. But as a rule of thumb one hold in the center and 3 or 4 circles around it is good.

Size of holes: Large holes will let too much oxygen in and small holes do just opposite. A good size is the size of the tip of a toothpick.

Assuming you are putting the holes on the aluminum foil after putting it on the bowl as supposed to using pre-made hookah foil with holes already in them:

When poking the holes push your toothpick (or whatever you are using) all the way so that it creates a pathway in the tobacco. This will allow better passage of oxygen through the entire tobacco ensuring the top tobbaco burn at the same time as the bottom tobacco.

I was sitting at the local hookah bar and was about to order my usual hookah - Starbuzz Blackberry. One of my friends complained about me not being creative engouh and suggested Starbuzz White Peach. So I ordered it.

Flavor: I could actually taste the peach flavor, but it wasn’t too strong which is good.

Smoke: Great smoke similar to most of Starbuzz Flavors.

Smoothness: Very smooth and relaxing.

I will actually be ordering more Starbuzz White Peach when I want to sit down, do some work, and relax. For later at night and party time I will probably choose a strong flavor though.

The hybrid mix = Mint Chocolate Chip, Blackberry, and Fumari Cola.

Yep… I told you it was going to be good.

SO what was the result? It was definitely not the best tasting, but I found some unique transitions in the flavors during the experience. Each individual flavor is awesome on it’s own, but together it got slight worse in just the flavor was a little too extreme for my liking.

Strength of the flavors: B+ Each flavor was uniquely strong (in a good way), but when they all came together… it was one of the strongest flavors I’ve ever had.

Overall: C- … I’ve had better mixes, but this is something to try for those long time smokers that are feeling brave.

Reports around the Pittsburgh, PA area have been stating that the college life has seen an increase in hookah usage. I know for some of us who are either a college student, a long-time hookah smoker, or a combination of both, this is not a surprise at all. However, I want to shed some light on this subject.

To begin, I am not advocating hookah usage OR how to lead the college lifestyle, but I have (still am) experiencing this lifestyle myself.

I have used my hookah for at least three years now, and have found it to be a great way to relax and socialize. Colleges and universities around the nation are the best locations for hookah bars and lounges due to the great culture blends and experiences. Despite larger cities and colleges will have more varieties of hookah bars, a ton of smaller colleges have a few offerings as well. The college life and hookah bars have definitely taken root into the heart of socializing for students because it is a great way to talk to friends, enjoy and experience a culture unlike Americas, and best of all… the smoking experience is therapeutic in its own great way!

What I have personally experienced is that when my friends try to think of a weekend gathering, hookah has always been an awesome solution. The beauty of going to a lounge, personally, is the relaxation. Sitting around in the most comfortable cushions and pillows, tasting the most flavorful and delicious fruit drinks, and smoking some of the most premium flavored tobacco always is a recipe for a good time. As a philosopher and psychologist… I love to talk and discuss, and being able to stay in a hookah lounge for hours is a great way to get back to reality, considering this world is full of cell phones, texting, facebook, and all the other dehumanizing technology.

Overall, hookah and the college life will see an increase, even during this push for a ’smoke-free’ society. Whether you side with hookah as being a un/healthier solution to other tobacco products… you cannot deny the fact that it has created a great way to bring friends together.

This time it consisted of Tropical Mango and Lemon Mint. This new mixture was interesting, to say the least. While I could have gone with a simple mix, like Mango with Watermelon or another tropical flavor, I decided to experiment and try some unusual flavor combinations.

Here’s my report:

Strength of Flavor: B+The mint made an interesting compliment to the sweet mango, however I found at times that it was the mint and lemon being a bit too strong for my liking.

Sweetness: A+  Mango alone give such a beautiful, rich flavor. When there is an addition of a hint of lemon and mint, you have yourself a whole spectrum of

This flavor hybrid is definitely one I would suggest, but only for those who are willing to be open to a new experience. As always, I will be sure to give another report with a new mixture!
