Hookah flavor mix: 3

September 25, 2008 7:31 pm

This third time around I knew this hybrid would really need to be tested on completely opposite flavors. So, be prepared if you are going to attempt this! :)

The hybrid mix = Mint Chocolate Chip, Blackberry, and Fumari Cola.

Yep… I told you it was going to be good.

SO what was the result? It was definitely not the best tasting, but I found some unique transitions in the flavors during the experience. Each individual flavor is awesome on it’s own, but together it got slight worse in just the flavor was a little too extreme for my liking.

Strength of the flavors: B+ Each flavor was uniquely strong (in a good way), but when they all came together… it was one of the strongest flavors I’ve ever had.

Overall: C- … I’ve had better mixes, but this is something to try for those long time smokers that are feeling brave.

As always, be sure to check the hookahloungestore.net for anything HOOKAH! I myself have found this my one stop shop for purchasing my flavors for future hybrids :) As well, sharing your hookah experiences is much appreciated!

Hookah and the College Life

September 23, 2008 8:02 pm

Lately I have been trying to come up with some interesting hookah talk, but lately it’s been very boring in the smoke world. I have not heard of any new flavors… maybe a few new hookahs here and there, but overall nothing new. That was, until I heard some local news reports.

Reports around the Pittsburgh, PA area have been stating that the college life has seen an increase in hookah usage. I know for some of us who are either a college student, a long-time hookah smoker, or a combination of both, this is not a surprise at all. However, I want to shed some light on this subject.

To begin, I am not advocating hookah usage OR how to lead the college lifestyle, but I have (still am) experiencing this lifestyle myself.

I have used my hookah for at least three years now, and have found it to be a great way to relax and socialize. Colleges and universities around the nation are the best locations for hookah bars and lounges due to the great culture blends and experiences. Despite larger cities and colleges will have more varieties of hookah bars, a ton of smaller colleges have a few offerings as well. The college life and hookah bars have definitely taken root into the heart of socializing for students because it is a great way to talk to friends, enjoy and experience a culture unlike Americas, and best of all… the smoking experience is therapeutic in its own great way!

What I have personally experienced is that when my friends try to think of a weekend gathering, hookah has always been an awesome solution. The beauty of going to a lounge, personally, is the relaxation. Sitting around in the most comfortable cushions and pillows, tasting the most flavorful and delicious fruit drinks, and smoking some of the most premium flavored tobacco always is a recipe for a good time. As a philosopher and psychologist… I love to talk and discuss, and being able to stay in a hookah lounge for hours is a great way to get back to reality, considering this world is full of cell phones, texting, facebook, and all the other dehumanizing technology.

Overall, hookah and the college life will see an increase, even during this push for a ’smoke-free’ society. Whether you side with hookah as being a un/healthier solution to other tobacco products… you cannot deny the fact that it has created a great way to bring friends together.

Another flavor mixture

September 17, 2008 6:00 pm

I made another attempt at creating a new hookah hybrid.

This time it consisted of Tropical Mango and Lemon Mint. This new mixture was interesting, to say the least. While I could have gone with a simple mix, like Mango with Watermelon or another tropical flavor, I decided to experiment and try some unusual flavor combinations.

Here’s my report:

Strength of Flavor: B+The mint made an interesting compliment to the sweet mango, however I found at times that it was the mint and lemon being a bit too strong for my liking.

Sweetness: A+  Mango alone give such a beautiful, rich flavor. When there is an addition of a hint of lemon and mint, you have yourself a whole spectrum of

Overall: A
This flavor hybrid is definitely one I would suggest, but only for those who are willing to be open to a new experience. As always, I will be sure to give another report with a new mixture! :)

Keep your comments coming, and always feel free to share your experiences.

What Environment Do You Prefer With Hookah?

September 9, 2008 6:58 pm

Whether it is the traditional Middle Eastern Hookah bar, or more trendy American ‘coffeeshop-esque’ Hookah bars, the established Hookah lover knows their own unique environment which produces the most pleasureable experience. For those who have not quite figured out what helps them create the best possible environment, here are some basic components:

Lighting: From the dimmest of lights to normal ‘60 watt’ lighting, people prefer their lighting in indvidual settings. Personally, I love the dimmest of lighting for it creates a soothe, calm atmosphere. However, friends have told me they prefer brighter lighting, such as in a normal room lighting, for they need to see the Hookah, and what’s around them.

Seating/comfort: Whether relaxing on standard coffee table and chairs to floor cushions and large body pillows, seating can provide the most comforting settings during your smoke. Majority of Hookah bars create excellent floor seating, and I personally love this style.

Food/Drink: The best smoke is accompanied by excellent food and drink. Let your tastebuds explore the possibilities by combining whatever you wish! Depending on the flavor of smoke, I typically love to eat light pastries, chocolates and fruits with fruity juice/wine and a nice strong coffee.

Music: While Hookah brings great conversation among friends, having music in the background truly puts the ‘icing on the cake’. I prefer calming acoustical musicians, which follows my “calming” environment theme.

Artwork: While not the most important factor, artwork still provides stimulation to the eyes. Artwork is an awesome technique for bringing ambiance, and create a colorful setting.

Always remember that there are NO RIGHT OR WRONG PREFERENCES TO THE INDIVIDUAL’S LIKINGS!!!

There is nothing better than having a good enjoyable smoke out of your Hookah, but the best way to make that possible is to create the most pleasureable atmosphere. Hopefully, you can share what is your favorite setting/environment when smoking Hookah.
