    Default Easy diffuser tutorial

    what you need,
Pebbles, or glass beads, or airsoft pellets, or glass marbles

,the smaller the better, just make sure they wont go in ur down stem

    i use glass beads,

the best thing to do is to go to a craft store or the 99cent store and get these glass beads, or u can collect a bunch of pebbles and wash them good.

    first wash watever ur using
then fill the base of ur hookah with the marbles.

    the marbles separates(diffuses) the smoke.
the tricky part is getting ur hookah to fit together since the marbles can get in the way of the down stem, tilt and rotate ur base white connecting ur hookah to the base.

this diffuser works great, is cheap and simple. it will make a noticable difference i promise.
i hope i explained it well

    ah I see.

Ice works well too, only problem is 1) it melts, and 2) if you have certain thin bodied bases, the ice rattling around can actually break the base. (This happened to one of my twitter followers more than once)

I believe the bases in question were the syrian bases sold from Sahara Smoke...another reason not to buy anything from them.

Heba Diffusers dont' fit on the end of KM style stems. The flare out doesn't allow the diffuser to fit on.

To be honest though, I have smoked out of the same hookah both with and without diffusers...and I haven't noticed a big difference...maybe that's just me though...I get good smoke pretty much regardless of the size of the bubbles. Similarly, I've noticed no difference if flavor as well...it really just seems to work as a method of silencing a hookah...which is something that IMO only applies to those smoking in places when they ought not to be smoking...dorm rooms etc.

I use the Heba on my KM, which has a big fat bulb like shape at the tip of the downstem. Had to make bigger cuts on the Heba's top than I'd have liked, but it works like a champ.

I used to use Mighty Leaf tea bags as a diffuser and they worked great, but the Heba works much better. I've been very happy with it.

Make the hookah so quiet. I like to think it makes better smoke, but I'm probably just imagining that, don't know how it could really make any difference there.

Intersting idea, probably pretty cool looking too. But, oh, what a lot of fuss! putting them in, getting them out, having to use a colander or a strainer so they don't go down the garbage disposal, having to rinse them off and finding a place for them to dry out between sessions...

Still, I love DIY and this is cool.

I really like the idea using the glass beads, I might try it out because it should be good. What I really do that also helps out ALOT is instead of just tossing ice cubes in the base, I put some water and ice cubes in a blender and make a nice slushy. That really works out well but still a little noisy.
